Birthday Party FAQ

What are available party times?

Saturday and Sundays, 11:30AM – 1:30PM and 2:00PM – 4:00PM (includes 15 minutes before and after party for set up/clean up). Additional set-up time can be arranged, subject to $50 fee

Ask your Party Specialist about the Premiere Party Package option to host your party before we open to the public! Party times may be adjusted at museum discretion if necessary. Consult your Party Specialist about availability.

What age ranges are appropriate for children at the Morris Museum parties?

Parties at the Morris Museum can be held for birthdays, and other special moments in your child’s life. Party themes are suitable for ages 5-9. Please contact us to tailor any of the themes to ages 3-4.

How do I reserve my party?

Contact our Party Coordinator at [email protected] to book your party date and activities. Parties must be booked at least  two weeks in advance. Please note that parties booked within two weeks of the party date may be charged an additional late booking fee of $50.00.

Is a deposit required?

A $100 deposit is required to reserve your party date / time. Your deposit will be applied to your final party balance. Final payments are required no later than day of the party. We accept cash, check, and credit cards.

What if I need to change my date? What if I cancel?

If you would like to change your date or time, a $50 rescheduling fee may apply. We will do our best to reschedule your party, but please be aware that alternative dates are based on availability. Deposits are not refundable for parties cancelled by patrons. Party cancellations that are paid in full will be refunded except for the $100 deposit. In the event of inclement weather your Party Specialist will work with you to reschedule if the museum will be closed. No cancellation fee will apply for cancellation due to weather by the Museum.

Can I bring party decorations?

Any table decorations are allowed. The 4-6 tables in the room are 6′ long if you would like to bring table cloths.  Balloons and piñatas are not allowed.

Can I bring my own food and cake? Do you provide food and beverage supplies?

You provide all food and beverages for your party. We recommend cupcakes (instead of a large birthday cake). Ice cream cakes are not recommended as there is no freezer facility. You are welcome to bring coolers with ice for food and beverages.

If you are having food delivered, please arrange to have it here 45 minutes prior to the end of the party. Ask your Party Specialist for local recommendations.

We do not provide refreshment supplies. Please bring any cups,plates,forks,napkins,etc. that you need.

I have more than the 35 guest maximum. What can I do?

No problem! To arrange a party for larger groups please call our Private Events Manager Amy von Sternberg at  973-971-3722.

Does the total number of guests include adults?

Yes, the total number of guests includes both children and adults attending the party.

What if I need more time?

Our Party Specialist can work with you to meet your needs. Additional time can be added, subject to availability, for party time or set-up time for $75 per ½ hour.

Can I drop off and store my party supplies before the party, or set up the day before?

Unfortunately, we are not able to store or take supplies the day prior to your birthday party. Our rooms are usually being utilized each day until closing hours. Additionally, we do not have secure space in which to store supplies.
