Ages 6-12+

Continue to explore and experiment with visual art techniques in a variety of mediums through engaging projects and hands-on activities. Weekly projects will involve pastel, watercolor painting, drawing and collage. You may even have a chance or two to sketch directly from items on exhibition in the museum!  If you were in any of the previous Art Experiences classes, come see what new adventures are in store for you. The possibilities are endless, and there are always new projects to enjoy!

Ages 6-12+

Students will have fun learning how to hand print unique works of art using water soluble inks. They will have the opportunity to experiment with both monoprinting on plexiglass and styrofoam printing.

Fundamentals of Portrait and Figure Drawing with Laurie Harden
10 Fridays, January 20 – March 24
3:00PM – 4:30PM
Ages 11 – adult

In this two part course, students will learn the fundamentals of drawing portraits and the human figure from both photographs and live models. Sessions will begin with quick, gesture sketches, and conclude with completed drawings from longer studies. Learn proportions and correct relationship between features and parts of the body, using guides like plumb-lines and negative spaces. This class is for beginners as well as the more experienced student who wishes to continue the “practice” and challenge of portrait and figure drawing. Clothed model will be present for 5 of the 10 sessions.

Page O’ Comics with Kelly Bogucz

Come one, come all, to a comical workshop! Learn about comic character- and landscape design. Create your very own stylized comic page. Students will go home with a comic packet with two comic studies and a comic page strip along with extra pages to finish at home.

“Get Wired” with Wire and Yarn II with Faith Valentinetti
Monday, February 20 – Presidents’ Day

Ages 8-12+

Create a patriotic figure out of wire and yarn. Make a frame out of soft and flexible chenille covered wire, fill out the body with yarn, add your own embellishments and before you know it – you will have created a unique and fun patriot that’s all your own.

A Day with Monet with Nina Nemeth

View a sampling of works by Claude Monet, one of the world’s Master Artists and a founder of French Impressionist painting. Learn about his life and times while you explore his unique and revolutionary art. Create your own masterpiece in the style of this master.

Age 16 to Adult

Learn the basics of felting with wool roving while you create a miniature of your pet or another favorite animal. You will learn how to fashion a wire armature of your animal and then felt around it. Add little embellishments for facial features and perhaps a collar. The little animal you create can then be used as an ornament or creative addition to something else. Possibilities will be demonstrated.

Discover the joys of mosaic design in this three-part workshop. Create a beautiful 8” x 10″ wall piece, learn all about glass mosaics and how to create your very own sparkly glass mosaic art picture. This class is 3 sessions, 2 sessions to create your design and 1 session to grout.  No art or mosaic experience necessary.

Acrylic Painting Techniques Workshop with Francesca Pelaggi

Ages 16 to Adult

Students will be able to choose from their own landscape photos.  Fundamental elements of composition, abstract form, light and shadow, blocking in of color, value accuracy, etc. will be covered.  Learn to work wet in wet as well as glazing techniques to build up a finished painting. Join us for a day of art and good conversation. Coffee and snacks will be provided. All levels welcome – beginners encouraged!
