10th Annual Bickford Benefit on the Back Deck

Thursday, October 1, 7:00PM

This event is sold out!

Two years ago, Dan Levinson celebrated the 101st anniversary of recorded jazz with a show at the Bickford entitled “JAZZ 101: The Trailblazers of America’s Original Art Form”. For 10/1, Dan is building on that theme by bringing together for the very first time the MODERN-DAY trailblazers of traditional jazz. Colin Hancock, Albanie Falletta and Vince Giordano – leader of the country’s preeminent 1920s hot jazz orchestra for over 40 years – will make their debuts at the museum as they join forces with “veterans” Mike Davis (playing trombone!), Kevin Dorn and Dan for an evening of sizzling hot jazz from the age of tin horns and Talking Machines. Multi-instrumentalist Colin Hancock will also demonstrate his skill as a displaced sound engineer by using century-old technology to record the band on a wax cylinder and play it back before your eyes and ears!
Colin Hancock, cornet/tenor sax
Mike Davis, trombone/cornet
Dan Levinson, clarinet/C-melody sax
Albanie Falletta, banjo
Vince Giordano, tuba/bass sax
