Artist Interview with Richard Haynes

“The purpose of my art is literally to help us all understand that we are all on this planet together, and we all bring value to this universe … That is my driving force. Before my mom… passed away, she said, ‘Son, never get weary of doing good’.”

-Richard Haynes, Artist

Artist Richard Haynes, who has been called a culture keeper and cultural maker, speaks about his work and personal history with Michelle Graves, Morris Museum’s Assistant Curator. Mr. Haynes’ work is part of the For the Culture, By the Culture exhibition which closes this weekend, Sunday, September 25. Make sure to see this historic, 30 year retrospective from Morristown’s own Art in the Atrium that celebrates black art, advocacy, and achievement.
