We at the Morris Museum and Bickford Theatre are looking for motivated volunteers to help in all areas of Museum and Theatre operations.

Are you a high school student looking to expand your resume with service at a non-profit cultural institution? Are you retired with experience and skills to help the Morris Museum?

The Morris Museum would not be what it is today without its loyal and committed corps of volunteers. Please consider a fulfilling vocation donating your time as a Morris Museum volunteer. We provide full training for all positions. Just fill out the application and we’ll be in touch!

Visitor Services Volunteer

The Morris Museum is looking for a corps of dynamic Visitor Services Volunteers to join its team. Visitor Services Volunteers act as ambassadors of the Museum and are the front line of communication with external parties. They are part of the Development Department which includes a Director, Manager of Institutional Giving, Membership Coordinator, and seasonal interns.

Spark!Lab Ambassadors

The Spark!Lab program at the Morris Museum is seeking volunteers that enjoy working with children while they create, innovate and collaborate. As an ambassador you will work with children and families, assist in the setup and clean up of the space and hands-on activities. You will be asked to complete at least 3 two hour shifts during a month. This volunteer role is perfect for someone who has an interest in invention, history and science. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed.

Bickford Theatre Usher

Love plays? Concerts? Jazz? Comedy? You’ll love volunteering as an usher for Bickford Theatre performances. Ushers wear a white shirt or blouse and dark pants or skirt to distinguish themselves as ushers. Help seat the audience and then sit back and enjoy the show!

Museum Shop

The Morris Museum is looking for friendly, outgoing people to help in the Museum Shop. Our shop is chock full of mementos of the many museum experiences our visitors enjoy. Our shop volunteers help price new merchandise, take payments and stock displays. Help school groups, scout troops, parents and grandparents pick out the perfect memory of their visit. Be a part of an exciting retail experience and extend your circle of friends!

Gallery Docent / Guinness Collection Guide

Exhibitions are always changing at the Morris Museum, highlighting history, science, and art. Learn about our new exhibits before they are open to the public and then share your knowledge with interested visitors. You can also choose to specialize in presenting and operating the automata as a guide in our renowned interpretive exhibition, The Murtogh D. Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata.

Education / Workshops / Special Events

Calling former teachers, scout leaders, and Sunday School teachers. We need your experience helping with arts and crafts activities at children’s and family events held throughout the year. High School students who love working with children we need you too! Volunteer hours available on Weekdays and Saturdays.

Membership and Development

Work with our Membership Manager on all phases of Museum Membership from recruitment of new members to renewal and maintenance of existing members. Our Development Director provides experience with managing donations, bequests and development campaigns and events.

Exhibitions

Are you “artsy”? Do you love crafts, art projects and assembling and organizing displays? Can you sew? If you answered yes, you will thoroughly enjoy working with our exhibition team.
