Contemporary Native American Pottery

An intimate exhibition of Contemporary Native American pottery from the Morris Museum’s permanent collection is now on view. Located on the second floor of the museum, this small exhibition highlights modern Native American craftsmanship and artistry. The works in the exhibition have been created using time-honored techniques and iconography merged with contemporary design aesthetics, resulting in transformative works that pay homage to the countless generations of craftspeople that came before.

This installation was curated by Michelle Graves, Assistant Curator, Morris Museum.

Artwork: Rebecca Lucario; Polychrome Geometric Jar, ca. 20th century; New Mexico, Acoma Pueblo; Hand coiled earthenware; 2012.38.
