Audubon Songbirds

from the Dr. Michael and Elyn Stubblefield Collection

This exhibition brings together a rare group of original Audubon prints depicting bird species from the private collection of New Jersey Philanthropists and Art Collectors Dr. Michael and Elyn Stubblefield. In this exhibition, these iconic works make a connection to the Museum’s collection of music boxes that feature birdsong. Celebrated for their scale, detail, and ambition, John James Audubon’s engravings from The Birds of America (1827–1838) remain among the most influential images in the history of American natural illustration.
