Steampunk 101: Scorsese’s Hugo with Curator’s Tour
Sunday, April 7, 2019, 1:00PM – 4:00PM

Join us in the Bickford Theatre for a big-screen showing of the film, Hugo, directed by Martin Scorsese. Parisian orphan Hugo discovers a mysterious automaton left by his father. Seeking the key to unlock the machine, he embarks on a quest that will transform those around him and lead to a safe and loving place he can call home.

Following the film, join the Guinness staff for a tour of the exhibition: A Cache of Kinetic Art: Simply Steampunk.

Build an Automaton! Children’s Workshop
Sunday, June 16, 2019, 12:30PM – 2:00PM

Join the Guinness Collection staff at a maker’s workshop where each child will receive one automaton kit to assemble, decorate, and then bring home.

For children ages 5 and up.

Join us in the galleries for a historical overview and live demonstration of some of the mechanical musical instruments and automata from the Museum’s Murtogh D. Guinness Collection.

This custom designed, 4300 sq.ft. permanent exhibit features 150 superb examples of early mechanical musical entertainment. From precious smalls that can fit in the palm of your hand, to the huge 9 foot tall European Dance Hall Orchestrion.
