Discussion with Tula Telfair and Peter Gottschalk

Saturday, July 26, 2025 | Noon
Free with museum admission. Limited capacity, first-come, first-served.

Please join us for a conversation between Peter Gottschalk and Tula Telfair reflecting on her inspirations and processes for the 33 paintings in Tula Telfair: N A T U R E does not locate itself.

Peter has written about Tula’s work and followed it closely for years. His treks all over the world have inspired their conversations and her paintings.

Regardless of the point of view afforded the viewer in a painting or the evident traces of human impact and habitation on the environment, or Tula’s portrayal of a moving and unsettled volcanic or tectonic terrain – these paintings inspire discussion, contemplation, and emotional response. Come for the conversation and the opportunity to visit the exhibition with both Peter and Tula, who are colleagues at Wesleyan University.

Support for the exhibition is generously provided by Melanie and Alan Levitan. Exhibition installation support provided by Novartis.
