Spark!Lab and the Morris Museum
Availability: On-going
Duration: 1.5 Hours
Visit and explore our Smithsonian Spark!Lab, where you and your students can explore the world of invention using the Engineering Design Process to solve real world challenges. This hands-on lab will allow you and your students to invent, create and collaborate.
During your museum visit, you can also explore our changing exhibitions and our permanent collections. Some of these include the Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata, Digging Dinosaurs, Model trains, and the Dodge room.

Art & Motion Tour: Student-created Kinetic Sculpture
Availability: March 18 – August 7, 2022
Duration: 2 hours
Explore the art and the science of kinetic energy in this unique program. We will start with a tour of our juried exhibit A Cache of Kinetic Art: Timeless Movements. Taking inspiration from the exhibit, students will create their own 3D kinetic art sculptures. These moving masterpieces will involve art, movement, science, and engineering. Projects can be adapted to meet appropriate techniques for grades 3-8.

Voices in Art
Art in the Atrium Tour: Student Created Artworks
Available May 25 – September 20
Your art, your voice! Learn how you can hear unique voices and understand different perspectives through experiencing art from a variety of people and places. After a tour of the exhibit For the Culture, By the Culture: 30 Years of Black Art, Activism, and Achievement, students will create their own pieces inspired by the masterful artworks. Students will find their unique voices and share them proudly through the implementation of various fine art techniques on display in the exhibition. Projects can be adapted to meet appropriate techniques for grades K-8.
Spark!Lab and Motion Tour Combo
Availability: March 18 – August 7, 2022
Duration: 2.5 hours
An immersive experience that includes both programs for only $10.00 per student, teachers are free. There is an outdoor picnic area for lunch (weather permitting) as well as an indoor location.
