Introducing Here on Tour, Niles Luther’s inaugural opus within the domain of art music. The collection features five limited edition art music compositions, each inspired by paintings Luther discovered visiting U.S. museums while on tour. Initially released as blockchain-tokenized recordings paired with Creative Commons Zero Public Domain paintings, this groundbreaking project is now evolving from the digital realm to the concert hall. Making its live debut at the Morris Museum, Here on Tour will be performed in its entirety for the first time outside the studio. By bridging digital ownership with live performance, and marrying modern classical music with historic visual art, Here on Tour continues to revolutionize the way art and music is experienced, owned, and presented.

Composer-cellist Niles Luther stands at the forefront of the Art Music genre, crafting innovative works that bridge the worlds of visual art and classical music. Hailed by the Guardian for his “rousing” and “romantic” orchestral scores, Luther’s musical foundation is rooted in the classical tradition, having studied violoncello with Ole Akahoshi and Wolfram Koessel at the Manhattan School of Music.

As the inaugural Composer-in-Residence at the Brooklyn Museum and a Ford Foundation fellow, Luther specializes in creating bespoke musical scores inspired by visual artworks, transforming silent, era-locked visuals into vibrant pieces alive with movement. His innovative approach to composition extends beyond traditional settings through the use of cutting-edge technologies, including blockchain tokenization and spatial audio for immersive installations.

Luther’s versatility as a musician has led to collaborations with artists such as Jon Batiste, H.E.R., and Solange Knowles, with performances on Good Morning America and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. His notable role as musical director at the Kehinde Wiley Studio (2019-2021) marked a pivotal moment in his career, where he composed and produced scores for art films showcased in galleries across New York, London, and Paris. Most recently, he served as principal cellist for the National Broadway Tour of Les Misérables (2022-2023), demonstrating his continued commitment to musical excellence across genres.
