Carolyn Dorfman Dance Performance
in The Legacy Project: A Dance of Hope
Thursday, December 4, 2025 | 10:00 AM to Noon
Running Time: 60 minutes with Q & A with Dorfman and Company
The Morris Museum and Bickford Theater present Carolyn Dorfman Dance in The Legacy Project: A Dance of Hope. Carolyn Dorfman Dance’s (CDD) artistic and educational program is guided by the principle of DEPTH dance; Dance that Empowers People To be more Human.
In this narrated and highly interactive performance, Dorfman features works from The Legacy Project: Dance of Hope, a celebrated body of work that honors her roots as a child of Holocaust Survivors, a daughter of Eastern European immigrants, and the vibrant community in which she was raised. Exploring joy, pain and resilience, her repertory delves into history and connects us to the past and present with hopes for a better future.
Carolyn Dorfman Dance brings an engaging, fun, and interactive exploration of Contemporary Modern Dance that speaks to both the arts and history curriculum. Hailed for its bold athleticism, vibrant musicality and emotional storytelling, the Company performs dances that expand the mind, touch the heart, build cross-cultural understanding and share the power of dance to celebrate our common humanity.
This program aligns with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Visual and Performing Arts. Students engage with themes of cultural identity, historical trauma and resilience, empathy, and creative expression. Students make connections to historical events such as the Holocaust, and explore how the arts can be used to communicate complex ideas, values, and social issues—developing both critical thinking and social-emotional learning.
